Burlington has secured a permit valued at $900,000 to begin construction at the former Big Lots location at 19142 Montgomery Village Avenue. While an opening timeframe isn’t available, a 2026 opening now seems likely.
Construction is expected to begin very soon at the site. As of now, the nearby Gaithersburg Burlington location has indicated it will remain open. Back in May 2025, “Coming Soon” signage went up for Burlington at 19142 Montgomery Village Avenue in the Montgomery Village Center. The new store is replacing Big Lots, which permanently closed in March 2025.
Burlington is a national off-price retailer with more than 1,000 stores across the United States, offering discounted brand-name clothing, home goods, and accessories for men, women, and children. Formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, the retailer currently operates three other locations in Montgomery County, including Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Silver Spring.
