Man Wanted on Montgomery County Child Sexual Abuse Charges Arrested at Dulles Airport

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a Germantown, MD man at Washington Dulles International Airport on Sunday who authorities say was attempting to leave the country while wanted on felony charges in Montgomery County.

According to Customs and Border Protection, officers arrested Nelvis Gonzalez Purdencio, 43, as he attempted to board a flight bound for El Salvador. Gonzalez Purdencio is wanted by Montgomery County Police in connection with a charge of sexual abuse of a minor, a third-degree felony.

Federal authorities said Gonzalez Purdencio is also subject to a removal order issued in September 2005 after unlawfully entering the United States earlier that year. In addition, he was the subject of a February 2025 arrest warrant for failing to appear for his removal proceedings.

Customs and Border Protection officers confirmed that the Montgomery County arrest warrant remained active prior to the arrest.“This arrest illustrates how Customs and Border Protection officers help victims, including our most vulnerable victims of sexual assault, by working with our law enforcement partners to capture and return wanted fugitives to justice,” said Christine Waugh, CBP’s area port director for the Area Port of Washington, D.C., in a statement.

Following the arrest, Gonzalez Purdencio was turned over to officers with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. No additional information regarding court proceedings or extradition was released.
