The Washington Commanders and Pro Bowl punter Tress Way have agreed to a one-year contract extension, keeping one of the franchise’s most consistent and respected players in Washington for another season.
With the extension, Way has a chance to climb even higher in team history. Ben Standig noted that if Way appears in all 17 regular-season games next season, he will move into third place all-time in games played for the franchise, trailing only Darrell Green and Monte Coleman.
Way is currently the longest-tenured player on the Commanders roster and the longest-tenured punter in the NFL with the same team. He has been with Washington since 2014, providing stability at the position through multiple coaching staffs, roster overhauls, and organizational changes.
The veteran punter is coming off another strong season, earning his third Pro Bowl selection. Known for his consistency, field-position impact, and leadership, Way has been a steady presence for Washington for more than a decade.
