Man Charged with Arson After January Pick-up Truck Fire

Fire and Explosive Investigators with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service have made an arrest in connection with a suspicious vehicle fire last month in Wheaton.

On Tuesday evening, MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer announced that investigators have charged Bryan Daniel Franco-Argueta with second-degree arson and malicious destruction of property valued over $1,000. The charges stem from a January 17, 2026 pickup truck fire in the 2900 block of Dawson Avenue.

According to Piringer, the fire was determined to be suspicious, prompting an investigation by MCFRS Fire and Explosive Investigators. Franco-Argueta was taken into custody in Prince George’s County. No additional details about a motive or court proceedings were immediately released.
