An adult man is in critical condition following a pedestrian crash late Wednesday night in Silver Spring.
Montgomery County Police said crews were dispatched at 9:57pm to the intersection of East West Highway and Washington Avenue for a collision involving a pedestrian. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer shared that Fire and EMS personnel arrived to find one adult patient suffering from critical injuries and classified as a Priority 1 trauma.
At 10:09pm, Piringer reported that MCFRS and EMS units were on scene evaluating the patient, with some lanes of traffic blocked in the area. A follow up update at 10:32pm confirmed that the patient was being transported to a hospital, with lane closures still in effect near Washington Avenue and Sundale Drive in the Rosemary Hills area.
Montgomery County Police said officers responded alongside fire and rescue units and confirmed that one adult male pedestrian was struck and is in critical condition. Police stated they were still waiting for information regarding the striking vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
