Iconic Philly Cheesesteak Spot Offering Free Cheesesteaks for a Year at First Maryland Location

Geno’s Steaks is celebrating its first Maryland location with a very Philly-style promotion: free cheesesteaks for a year.

The iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak shop announced it will open at Power Plant Live! in downtown Baltimore on Thursday, March 5, marking the brand’s first expansion into Maryland. To mark the occasion, Geno’s is running a sweepstakes that will award one lucky winner a free cheesesteak every week for 52 weeks.

According to the contest details, the sweepstakes runs from February 12 through March 26, with no purchase required to enter. The prize will be awarded as weekly vouchers, totaling a year’s worth of cheesesteaks. The contest is open to eligible U.S. and D.C. residents age 21 and older, with some state exclusions, and the winner will be selected at random.

The Baltimore location will serve Geno’s classic cheesesteaks made with premium rib-eye, fresh-baked bread, and melted cheese, along with Italian hoagies and additional menu items. The restaurant is expected to be open for lunch, dinner, and late-night dining, offering a mix of walk-up window service, kiosks, and bar seating.

Founded in 1966 by Joey Vento in South Philadelphia, Geno’s Steaks is widely regarded as one of the city’s original cheesesteak institutions. Its move into Maryland represents a notable expansion for the brand and adds another high-profile food name to Baltimore’s Power Plant Live!

An opening-day crowd is expected, and with the promise of a year’s worth of free cheesesteaks on the line, interest in the debut is already heating up.
