Popular Maryland Brunch Spot Easy Like Sunday is Coming to Montgomery County

A popular Baltimore brunch concept is officially headed to downtown Silver Spring. Central Apartments at 8455 Fenton Street announced last week that Easy Like Sunday is coming soon to the building’s ground-floor retail space. According to Source of the Spring, the restaurant will take over the space previously occupied by El Sapo.

Easy Like Sunday has built a strong following in Baltimore for its upbeat, patio-like atmosphere that feels sunny and relaxed even indoors. Reviewers often describe the space as cozy, positive, and ideal for group outings, birthday brunches, and lingering meals with friends.

The menu is brunch-forward with several crowd favorites. Signature dishes include ricotta stuffed French toast, short rib hash, and a brunch burger topped with maple-syrup-cooked cowboy bacon. Other standouts include the Tuscan Bake, a pork sausage and tomato dish finished with mozzarella, and fried chicken paired with cornmeal pancakes and peach-habanero jam. The drink menu is also a major draw, featuring a popular mimosa flight, peach lavender mimosas, and specialty beverages like a pink beetroot matcha latte. Vegan and vegetarian diners are well covered, with clearly labeled options such as roasted vegetable hash and seasonal vegan pancakes.

While Easy Like Sunday now feels like a Baltimore staple, the concept actually began in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2020. The founders, Sean and Anna MacCuish, later decided to relocate closer to family after having children. Anna, a Baltimore native whose family owns the longtime G&A Restaurant, grew up immersed in the local food scene. The couple sold their Charlotte location and brought the concept to Maryland, opening their first local spot at Cross Keys in 2023, followed by Locust Point in 2024.

Despite what many assume, the restaurant’s name was not a direct nod to the Lionel Richie song. Instead, the owners have said it grew out of conversations about the feeling they wanted to create: something leisurely, simple, and relaxed, like the perfect Sunday morning. An opening date has not yet been announced.
