Three Washington Spirit Players Named to USWNT Roster for SheBelieves Cup

Three Washington Spirit players have been called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team for the 2026 SheBelieves Cup, U.S. Soccer announced today.

Forward Trinity Rodman and defenders Tara Rudd and Kate Wiesner will represent the Spirit as the U.S. faces Argentina, Canada, and Colombia in the 11th edition of the annual international tournament.

Rodman earns her first USWNT call-up since re-signing with the Spirit last month. The forward has made 49 appearances for the national team, recording 13 goals and nine assists. She scored in both of the U.S. January friendlies against Chile and Paraguay, including one goal set up by Spirit teammate Tara Rudd.

Rudd, the reigning 2025 NWSL Defender of the Year, earns her eighth call-up to the senior national team. She made her first USWNT start during last year’s SheBelieves Cup against Colombia and registered her first international assist in that match. Rudd also assisted Rodman on a goal against Paraguay last month and now has ten appearances and three assists for the U.S.

Wiesner receives her third consecutive USWNT call-up after making her senior team debut in a November friendly against Italy. Entering her third season with the Spirit, this marks her fourth camp with the national team, including a previous training player selection in May 2024.

The U.S. will open SheBelieves Cup play against Argentina on Sunday, March 1 at 5pm in Nashville, followed by a matchup with Canada on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:45pm in Columbus. The tournament wraps up Saturday, March 7 at 3:30pm against Colombia in Harrison, New Jersey.

The Washington Spirit enter the 2026 season coming off their second straight NWSL Championship appearance. The club will open the regular season at home on Friday, March 13, hosting Portland Thorns FC in a rematch of last year’s home semifinal.
