Construction is expected to begin soon at the future downtown Silver Spring location of Easy Like Sunday, according to a new report from Source of the Spring.
The Baltimore-based brunch concept is planning to open at Central Apartments, located at 8455 Fenton Street. According to the report, a “Coming Soon” banner has been installed outside the space directing potential diners to the restaurant’s website for updates. An opening timeframe has not yet been announced.
As previously reported in February, Easy Like Sunday will take over the space formerly occupied by El Sapo. The restaurant has built a strong following in Baltimore for its upbeat, patio-like atmosphere that feels sunny and relaxed even indoors. Reviewers often describe the space as cozy, positive, and well suited for group outings, birthday brunches, and long meals with friends.
The brunch-forward menu features several signature dishes that have become customer favorites. Among them are ricotta stuffed French toast, short rib hash, and a brunch burger topped with maple-syrup-cooked cowboy bacon. Other popular items include the Tuscan Bake, a pork sausage and tomato dish finished with mozzarella, and fried chicken served with cornmeal pancakes and peach-habanero jam.
Drinks are also a major part of the experience. The menu features a popular mimosa flight, peach lavender mimosas, and specialty beverages such as a pink beetroot matcha latte. Vegan and vegetarian diners are also well accommodated, with clearly labeled options including roasted vegetable hash and seasonal vegan pancakes.
While Easy Like Sunday has become well known in Baltimore, the concept originally began in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2020. Founders Sean and Anna MacCuish later decided to relocate closer to family after having children. Anna, a Baltimore native whose family owns the longtime G&A Restaurant, grew up around the local food scene.
The couple sold their Charlotte location and brought the concept to Maryland, opening their first local restaurant at Cross Keys in 2023, followed by a second location in Locust Point in 2024.
Despite what many assume, the restaurant’s name is not a direct reference to the Lionel Richie song. The owners have said the name came from conversations about the feeling they wanted to create, something leisurely, simple, and relaxed, like the perfect Sunday morning.
