Montgomery County police released their daily crime summary for March 17, highlighting several incidents across the county, including multiple auto thefts, a residential burglary, and a road rage incident involving a firearm.
Among the incidents reported, a strong-arm robbery occurred around 3:23pm in the 2000 block of East West Highway, where a suspect forcibly took a victim’s cell phone during a dispute between two known parties.
Auto thefts made up a significant portion of the report, with incidents occurring in Bethesda, Wheaton, and Gaithersburg. Vehicles were reported stolen from the 2100 block of Belvedere Boulevard, the 10800 block of Amherst Avenue, the 2300 block of Glenallan Avenue, and West Diamond Avenue. In several cases, the vehicles were taken from parking lots overnight, with at least two incidents showing no signs of forced entry. In another case on Sheffield Manor Court, all four tires and rims were stolen from a vehicle overnight.
Police also reported a residential burglary in the 11100 block of Georgia Avenue, where a homeowner returned to find their front door had been kicked in. It remains unclear if anything was taken.
In Germantown, an aggravated assault involving a firearm was reported around 11:28am at Germantown Road and Clopper Road. Following a road rage incident, a suspect pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle and displayed a handgun before fleeing the scene.
