Eight State Titles Highlight Strong Winter for MCPS Athletics

Montgomery County Public Schools saw a dominant winter season, with eight teams capturing state championships across multiple sports during the 2025-2026 school year.

The titles span basketball, wrestling, and swimming and diving, highlighting the depth of talent across MCPS programs. Whitman High School led the way with two championships, winning the Girls 4A Basketball title and the Coed 3A/4A Wrestling title. Blake High School secured the Boys 4A Basketball championship, while Quince Orchard claimed the Girls Wrestling state title.

In the pool, Poolesville delivered a standout performance by winning the Boys and Girls 1A/2A/3A Swim and Dive championship. Walter Johnson earned the Boys 4A Swim and Dive title, and Churchill took home the Girls 4A Swim and Dive championship.

Beyond the team titles, dozens of individual MCPS student-athletes also earned state championships during the winter season, adding to what was an impressive showing across the county. MCPS celebrated the accomplishments with a message of pride and recognition for the student-athletes and programs, highlighting the continued success of high school athletics across the district.
