Multiple Auto Thefts and Two Shootings Highlight MCPD’s March 31 Crime Summary

Montgomery County Police released its daily crime summary outlining reported calls for service on March 31, 2026, highlighting a mix of burglaries, auto thefts, and two daytime shootings across multiple districts. The department is divided into six districts, each covering different parts of the county.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, officers responded to a residential burglary on Starlight Court at 9:24am, where a home was broken into at an unknown time. Earlier that morning at 8:48am, catalytic converters were reported stolen from company vehicles in the 400 block of E. Gude Drive. Later, an auto theft occurred in the 800 block of Rockville Pike between 11:30am and 11:49am, where a suspect posing as a buyer during an online marketplace transaction took a vehicle for a test drive and did not return. Around 12:04pm, a commercial burglary was reported in the 100 block of E. Montgomery Avenue after a suspect forced entry into a business.

In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Kensington, two separate auto thefts were reported. One occurred overnight in the 3500 block of Anderson Road, reported at 8:14am. Another took place between 9:30am and 10:45am in the 5500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, where a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot.

The 3rd District, covering Silver Spring and the surrounding downcounty areas, saw three overnight auto thefts. Vehicles were stolen from parking lots in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue and the 11200 block of Lockwood Drive. Another theft occurred in the 8000 block of Flower Avenue between 11pm and 1pm.

In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Aspen Hill, and Glenmont, multiple vehicles were stolen overnight in the same general area, including the 12200 block of Charles Road, 3900 block of Isbell Street, and 4000 block of Weller Road.

Two shootings were reported later in the day. In the 5th District, covering Germantown and Clarksburg, officers responded to the 13200 block of Catawba Manor Way at 10:53am, where two victims were found with gunshot wounds. The investigation remains ongoing.

In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, a shooting was reported at 12:46pm near Belle Grove Road and Victory Farm Drive. A victim was shot in the thigh after exiting a vehicle, and Gaithersburg Police are handling that investigation.

Police note that the summary reflects reported incidents and does not include all calls for service from that date.
