One Hospitalized After Overnight Shooting

Montgomery County police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Silver Spring.

According to Montgomery County Department of Police, 3rd District officers were dispatched at 2:04am to the 8600 block of Georgia Avenue for a reported shooting. One individual was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle. Authorities have not released any information on the person’s condition.

As of now, police say there is no suspect information available and no one is currently in custody. The investigation remains ongoing.

Update: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Georgia Avenue and Thayer Avenue during the early morning hours of Friday, April 3, 2026.

At approximately 2:04 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for reports of a shooting. The preliminary investigation has revealed that unknown suspects were involved in an argument with a 25-year-old male victim. During the altercation, the suspects shot the victim for reasons that remain under investigation.

The victim was later taken in a private vehicle to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made. No suspect information is available.
