A serious crash in Derwood this afternoon has left one man with life-threatening injuries and prompted a road closure as police investigate.
Assistant Chief David Pazos said MCFRS units were dispatched at approximately 1:44pm to the area of Crabbs Branch Way and Indian Hills Drive for a reported auto collision. Upon arrival, crews found a driver that had crashed into a tree.
In a 2:52pm update, officials confirmed the incident involved a single vehicle. One adult male was transported with life-threatening injuries. A dog that was inside the vehicle was released to animal control with minor injuries.
Montgomery County Police, who were initially dispatched at 1:41pm, have taken over the scene for investigation. Crabbs Branch Way remains closed in the area of Indian Hills Dr. between Redland Road and Indianola Drive, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays.
