A Tuesday morning traffic disruption on East Gude Drive was caused by a fire at a nearby scrap facility, according to officials.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to 801 East Gude Drive, near Dover Road, for a large scrap pile fire at Boxwell Metals Tuesday morning. Firefighters arrived on scene and began working to bring the blaze under control.
Shortly after, at around 9am, Montgomery County police issued a traffic advisory stating that East Gude Drive was closed at Dover Road due to a large trash pile obstructing the roadway.
The obstruction appears to be connected to the active fire, with debris from the scrap pile impacting the roadway and forcing the closure. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as emergency crews continue operations. No injuries have been reported at this time.
