A fatal crash involving a motorcycle has shut down a portion of Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase Tuesday morning.
Montgomery County Police say the collision happened around 6:14am near the intersection of Manor Road and Connecticut Avenue (MD-185). Officers from the 2nd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene for a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.
When first responders arrived, they located an adult male motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult female driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Following the crash, Alert Montgomery issued a traffic advisory stating that all lanes of Connecticut Avenue are closed between Jones Bridge Road and Manor Road. Drivers are being urged to expect significant delays and use alternate routes.
The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the crash. Authorities say additional information, including the identity of the deceased, will be released after next of kin have been notified.
