MCPD Releases April 7 Crime Summary with Fatal Crash, School Weapons Arrest

Montgomery County police released their daily crime summary highlighting reported incidents across the county on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, including burglaries, thefts, a fatal collision, and multiple weapons-related cases.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, officers responded to a residential burglary in the 1100 block of Veirs Mill Road around 12:28pm. A resident discovered a suspect inside a locked bedroom before the individual fled when police were mentioned.

The 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and parts of Silver Spring, saw several incidents. A catalytic converter was stolen in the 9500 block of Kentstone Drive sometime between April 5 at 5pm and April 7 at 9am. A motorcycle was also taken from an apartment parking lot in the 1700 block of East West Highway between 11:30am and 2pm. Earlier that morning at 6:14am, a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle occurred at Manor Road and Connecticut Avenue, resulting in the death of an adult male motorcyclist.

In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, and surrounding communities, a road rage incident on southbound Georgia Avenue in the 15500 block at 10:09am led to a suspect firing a round into another vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the suspect was arrested. Another catalytic converter theft was reported in the 19700 block of Olney Mill Road between April 4 at 1pm and April 7 at 4pm. Later that evening, at approximately 10:43pm in the 12500 block of Layhill Road, a suspect displayed a handgun inside a bar and pointed it at a patron before fleeing.

The 5th District, which includes Germantown and Clarksburg, reported two residential burglaries. One occurred in the 12100 block of Stardrift Drive between 8am and 9:30pm, where a suspect entered through an unlocked rear door and stole property. Another took place at 3:48pm in the 24800 block of Showbarn Circle, involving forced entry into a vacant residence.

In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, a student was arrested after being found in possession of a loaded handgun inside a backpack at Watkins Mill High School, located in the 10300 block of Apple Ridge Road. The incident occurred around 12:15pm.
