The Washington Commanders welcomed more than three dozen NFL Draft prospects on Wednesday, many with strong ties to the DMV, giving local talent a chance to showcase their abilities in front of the hometown organization.
The group featured several Maryland standouts, including defensive back Vincent Nwachi, a Wheaton High School graduate who went on to play at Maine, Mitchell Melton, a Silver Spring native who attended Good Counsel in Olney before continuing his career at UVA, and Octavian Smith, a Burtonsville native and graduate of Paint Branch High School who went on to star at the University of Maryland.
The visit served as an opportunity for the Commanders to get a closer look at a wide range of prospects across multiple positions ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft, while also highlighting the depth of talent coming out of the region.
