Montgomery County Department of Police released its daily crime summary for April 9, 2026, highlighting a range of incidents across multiple districts, including a homicide in Gaithersburg, several auto thefts, and multiple hate/bias-related cases.
In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, an auto theft was reported in the 700 block of King Farm Blvd. between April 2 at 2pm and April 9 at 2pm, where a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot.
In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda and Chevy Chase, a hate/bias incident occurred on April 9 at 2:30pm in the 4400 block of Montgomery Ave. Police say a suspect directed slurs and threatening language at two people during a conversation about Middle East affairs at a gym. The incident remains under investigation. Another auto theft was reported in the 2400 block of Lyttonsville Rd. between April 8 at 9pm and April 9 at 7am, where a vehicle was stolen overnight.
In the 3rd District, covering Silver Spring and surrounding communities, a hate/bias incident at Francis Scott Key Middle School in the 900 block of Schindler Dr. occurred between noon and 2pm on April 8. Multiple anti-Semitic symbols were drawn on a classroom surface. Police are investigating. An additional auto theft was reported in the 8500 block of Geren Rd. between April 8 at 4pm and April 9 at 8:10am.
In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton and Glenmont, an auto theft was reported on April 9 between 6am and 9am in the 12100 block of Veirs Mill Rd., where a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot.
In the 5th District, covering Germantown and Clarksburg, a weapons offense led to an arrest on April 9 at 12:27pm in the 19800 block of Century Blvd. A suspect was seen publicly wielding a large knife and attempting to damage a vehicle at a traffic light before being located nearby and taken into custody.
In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, a homicide was reported on April 9 at 5:55am in the 12500 block of Carrington Hill Dr. A 32-year-old Gaithersburg man was found inside his residence suffering from gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. No suspect is currently in custody.
