Weekend Crime Summary Highlights Incidents Across Montgomery County

Montgomery County Police have released a summary of reported incidents from Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12, highlighting a range of crimes across multiple districts, including burglaries, auto thefts, assaults, and weapons offenses.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, a commercial burglary was reported in the 2100 block of Jefferson Street, where a suspect forced entry into a vacant building and was later discovered inside by staff.

In the 2nd District, covering Bethesda and Chevy Chase, a motorcycle was stolen from a parking garage on the 7700 block of Woodmont Avenue. Officers also recovered a loaded handgun during a disturbance investigation on East West Highway.

In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, multiple auto thefts were reported across the area, including incidents on Aston Manor Court, Cameron Street, Hampton Hollow Drive, Columbia Pike, and Piney Branch Road. A vehicle was also found propped up on crates after its tires and rims were stolen on Hampshire Green Lane. A weapons arrest occurred on Sligo Avenue after a handgun fell from a suspect’s waistband during a traffic stop. Shots were also fired in a parking garage on Fenton Street, striking a vehicle, and an aggravated assault was reported on Pintail Lane where a suspect struck a victim with a vehicle. A separate school-related incident occurred at Bradley Elementary School, where graffiti referencing a school shooting was discovered.

In the 4th District, covering Wheaton and Glenmont, an auto theft was reported on the 2800 block of Weller Road.

In the 5th District, which includes Germantown and Clarksburg, officers responded to an auto theft on Ginger Court and a theft from a vehicle on Deets Manor Court. A hate/bias incident was reported at Spark M. Matsunaga Elementary School, where a derogatory message was written in chalk on the playground. An aggravated assault involving a firearm was also reported on Old Hundred Road, where a suspect allegedly threatened a victim with a handgun.

In the 6th District, covering Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, a strong-arm robbery was reported at Gardenia Way and Tea Rose Drive, where two suspects allegedly stole a victim’s shoes during a staged sale. Another weapons arrest occurred on Carrington Hill Drive after a suspect admitted to being armed without a carry permit.

MCPD noted that the summary reflects only a portion of calls for service during the specified dates.
