MCPD: Auto Thefts, Robberies Reported Across All Districts on April 20

Montgomery County Police Department released its daily crime summary for April 20, 2026, outlining a series of incidents reported across multiple districts, including several vehicle thefts, robberies, and commercial burglaries.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, officers reported an auto theft with an arrest in the 2100 block of Veirs Mill Road after a driver briefly stepped away from the vehicle. Another strong-arm robbery was reported in the 14900 block of Shady Grove Road, where a suspect approached a victim seated in a vehicle and grabbed food before fleeing. A separate auto theft was also reported at a dealership service area in the 15500 block of Frederick Road.

In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, a series of incidents were reported overnight and throughout the day. Multiple vehicles were stolen from parking lots and residential areas, including locations on Lockwood Drive, Oak Leaf Drive, Garland Avenue, and Georgia Avenue. A van stolen from outside a hospital on Healing Way was later recovered, and a suspect was arrested. Additional incidents included a commercial burglary at a restaurant on Ellsworth Drive, a catalytic converter theft on Duvawn Place, and a strong-arm robbery at 1 Veterans Place where a victim was assaulted while sleeping in a public plaza.

In the 4th District, covering Wheaton and surrounding communities, officers responded to a group assault and robbery near the Wheaton Metro station in the 11300 block of Georgia Avenue. Seven suspects were taken into custody, and officers recovered a replica handgun and multiple knives. Additional incidents included an overnight auto theft on Brightview Court and an aggravated assault on Goodhill Road, where a suspect struck a victim with a vehicle during a dispute.

In the 5th District, which includes Germantown and Clarksburg, a commercial burglary was reported at a construction site office in the 22600 block of Clarksburg Road, where tools and electronics were stolen over the weekend. Officers also reported a theft with arrest in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive, where two suspects stole a package from outside a residence before being apprehended nearby.

In the 6th District, covering Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, officers reported a commercial burglary at a restaurant on Boardwalk Place, where a cash register was ransacked. A strong-arm robbery involving a juvenile victim was also reported on Teachers Way, along with an overnight vehicle theft on Nina Court.
