Police Report Series of Auto Thefts and School-Related Incidents in April 22 Crime Summary

Montgomery County Police released its daily crime summary for April 22, 2026, outlining a series of incidents across multiple districts, including auto thefts, burglaries, robberies, and hate-bias related reports.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, officers responded to two auto thefts and a commercial burglary. A vehicle was stolen from a parking lot on the 100 block of East Jefferson Street between 8:05am and 10am. Another vehicle was taken overnight from a parking lot on the 600 block of Elmcroft Boulevard between 9pm on April 21 and 9am on April 22. A separate incident on the 1400 block of West Montgomery Avenue involved a commercial burglary where the lock was removed from a building’s front door.

The 2nd District, covering Bethesda and Chevy Chase, saw a reported hate-bias incident on the 10400 block of Old Georgetown Road at 4:31pm. According to police, a suspect approached a security officer and made racist and derogatory statements before leaving the area.

In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring and surrounding communities, multiple auto thefts were reported. A vehicle was stolen from a parking garage on the 8100 block of Fenton Street between 7:30am and 5:45pm. Another was taken overnight from a parking lot on the 9700 block of Mt. Pisgah Road between 11pm and 6am. A motorcycle was also reported stolen from a parking garage on the 12200 block of Longfield Drive between 9pm and 10:30am the following day.

The district also reported a robbery with arrest on the 100 block of University Boulevard West at 11:51am. Police say a suspect threatened employees with a weapon during a shoplifting incident before leaving with merchandise. The suspect was later located and arrested. Later that evening, at 11:15pm, officers responded to a commercial burglary at White Oak Middle School on the 12200 block of New Hampshire Avenue, where a suspect entered the building after hours and was arrested at the scene.

In the 4th District, covering Wheaton, Aspen Hill, and Glenmont, a robbery involving a knife occurred at 8:05am on the 11200 block of Georgia Avenue. Police say a suspect concealed merchandise and, when confronted, displayed a folding knife and made threats before leaving. The individual was later located and arrested nearby.

The 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, reported a hate-bias incident at Gaithersburg High School on the 100 block of Education Boulevard at 2:48pm, where a racial slur was found written at the school.
