Takoma Park Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery that took place earlier this year on Maple Avenue.
According to police, Amid Jalloh of Takoma Park faces charges including armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and felony possession of a firearm.
The investigation began after a victim reported that on January 17, 2026, between 9pm and 9:30pm, he was sitting in his parked vehicle in the 7400 block of Maple Avenue when he was approached by the suspect asking to use his cellphone. When the victim declined, the suspect allegedly displayed a handgun, reached into the vehicle, took money, and fled the area on foot before getting into a vehicle and leaving.
On April 23 around 5:15pm, officers observed Jalloh operating a moped on Maple Avenue in violation of multiple traffic laws. Police said he was already known to officers and had an outstanding warrant related to the robbery.
During a canvass, officers located Jalloh in the parking lot of the Park Ritchie Apartments in the 7600 block of Maple Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident, and the warrant was confirmed.
Police also located the vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery. It was towed for processing, and a VIN check determined it had been reported stolen out of Washington, D.C. Jalloh was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged. A mugshot was not provided by Takoma Park Police.
