Montgomery County Police responded to Watkins Mill High School at approximately 11:41am after receiving a report of a student with a firearm on campus.
Officers quickly located the firearm, and the student involved has been detained. Authorities confirmed that the situation was contained without further incident.
The school was placed on a brief hold that lasted about 20 minutes while police secured the scene and ensured there was no ongoing threat. That hold has since been lifted, and normal school operations have resumed. Police say the campus is secure and there is no additional danger to students or staff.
