Montgomery County Police released a summary of reported calls for service over the weekend, covering Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26, highlighting a mix of auto thefts, robberies, assaults, and several incidents involving schools.
Auto thefts made up a significant portion of the reported incidents across multiple districts. In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda and Chevy Chase, a vehicle was stolen early Friday morning on Grosvenor Lane. In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, Wheaton, and Burtonsville, several thefts were reported on Northampton Drive, Hampton Point Drive, Old Columbia Pike, and later on Cameron Street.
In the 4th District, covering Rockville and parts of North Bethesda, another overnight theft occurred on Amherst Avenue, along with a later incident on Claridge Court. The 5th District, which includes Germantown and Clarksburg, saw a vehicle and work equipment stolen from Waldorf Drive and Sweetgum Circle, while the 6th District, covering Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, reported additional thefts on Lee Street and Quince Orchard Boulevard.
A strong-arm robbery was reported the morning of April 24 in the 4th District along Veirs Mill Road, where a suspect struck a loss prevention officer after being confronted about stolen merchandise before fleeing the scene.
Two hate and bias-related incidents were reported at schools in the 5th District. At Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, anti-Semitic graffiti was found on a bathroom wall along with a racial slur written on a desk. At Rocky Hill Middle School in Clarksburg, a male student reportedly pulled the hijab off a female classmate.
A weapons-related incident also occurred in the 6th District at Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg, where a student was found in possession of a handgun after another student reported seeing a firearm. The student was taken into custody.
On Saturday, April 25, more serious violent incidents were reported. In the 2nd District, an armed robbery involving a knife took place in a parking garage on Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda, where two victims were robbed of personal property.
In the 3rd District, a group fight in a Silver Spring parking lot escalated into a stabbing along University Boulevard West, leaving one victim injured. Two suspects were detained and arrested nearby. The district also saw a residential burglary on Sutherland Road, where a suspect entered a yard and shed and moved items inside.
An aggravated assault involving a firearm was reported in the 4th District early Saturday morning on Pear Tree Court in Rockville, where a suspect pointed a gun at a person and fired a round into the air before being arrested at the scene. Another strong-arm robbery later that morning on Veirs Mill Road involved a suspect assaulting a victim during an attempted robbery after the victim refused to comply.
