Washington Business Journal reports that Duke’s Grocery is expanding with a new concept, “Duke’s Burgers,” set to open at 1621 Crystal Drive in Arlington. The upcoming spot will operate as a compact, 300SF kiosk inside JBG Smith’s open-air Water Park food hall, with a target opening in late spring/early summer.
The move builds on Duke’s continued growth across the region. Known for its London-inspired gastropub vibe, the brand has developed a strong following thanks in large part to its signature “Proper Burger,” which has consistently been ranked among the best burgers in DC and has earned multiple “Best Burger in DC” titles over the years.
The Virginia opening follows Duke’s first expansion into Maryland, which took place in April 2025 with the debut of its Potomac location in Montgomery County. That restaurant, located at 10128 River Road in Potomac Village, marked the brand’s first venture outside of DC and introduced Maryland diners to its popular menu.
In addition to the Proper Burger, Duke’s Grocery is known for a wide-ranging menu that includes oversized sandwiches, cocktails, salads, local beers, and brunch staples like full English breakfasts. The streamlined “Duke’s Burgers” concept is expected to focus more heavily on its award-winning burger offerings, bringing a quicker, more casual format to one of the region’s most talked-about menu items.
