MCPD Weekend Crime Summary Includes School Threat, Burglaries, and Vehicle Thefts

The Montgomery County Department of Police shared an overview of reported calls for service across the county for Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, Potomac, Darnestown, and southern Gaithersburg, police reported multiple catalytic converter thefts Friday, including incidents on Stoneview Place and Pebble Hill Lane. Officers also responded to a commercial burglary at a UPS Store on Main Street and, on Saturday, arrested a suspect allegedly found inside St. Mary’s Church when it opened.

The 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, North Bethesda, and southern Potomac, included a reported school threat Sunday at Thomas W. Pyle Middle School involving a threatening group text message allegedly sent by a student.

In the 3rd District, which includes downtown Silver Spring, Burtonsville, Briggs Chaney, and Cloverly, police reported multiple vehicle-related thefts over the weekend, including stolen vehicles from Kennett Street and Robey Terrace, along with two separate thefts of tires and rims from vehicles on Southampton Drive and Northampton Drive.

The 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Glenmont, Olney, and Aspen Hill, included a residential burglary on Turnmore Court where a suspect allegedly smashed a glass door before fleeing. Police also investigated a weapon discharge Sunday night in the 13400 block of Parkland Drive after a round was fired through the front door of a home. No injuries were reported.

In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, and Boyds, officers responded Saturday to a reported break-in at Damascus High School involving two juvenile females who allegedly entered the closed school through an open window. Police said no theft or damage occurred.

The 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, and North Potomac, included an aggravated assault Friday involving students leaving Montgomery Village Middle School, along with multiple auto thefts reported on Autumn Glen Circle, Oak Shade Road, and West Side Drive.

MCPD noted that the summaries do not reflect all calls for service handled on those dates.
