Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe is preparing for a new chapter, announcing plans to relocate to the Meadowood Shopping Center in Colesville after more than two decades in downtown Silver Spring.
In a social media post shared April 29, the longtime specialty lingerie boutique revealed it will soon reopen at 12840 New Hampshire Ave in Silver Spring (Colesville), promising customers “a better shopping experience, more room for your favorites, and even more pieces you’ll fall in love with.” Source of the Spring notes that the location will be in the Meadowood Shopping Center across from Fryer’s Roadside.
“Okay… we’ve been keeping a secret 🤭 WE’RE MOVING!!” the shop wrote. “And not just moving, we’re leveling up in a big way.”The business also teased a forthcoming grand reopening celebration featuring exclusive in-store deals and new arrivals, with additional details expected soon.
The move marks another major development for the nearly century-old retailer, which earlier this year appeared at risk of closing permanently. As we previously reported by in March, Dor-Ne announced that a buyer had been found for the business following the retirement plans of its longtime owners.
Founded in 1932 as a bra shop in Washington, D.C., Dor-Ne became known throughout the region for expert fittings, personalized service, and hard-to-find sizing long before such services were common in larger retail stores. The boutique relocated to downtown Silver Spring in 2001, where it continued building a loyal customer base through individualized fittings and specialty foundation garments.
At the time the retirement announcement was made, the owners expressed hope that a new operator would continue the shop’s longstanding tradition of customer care and expertise.
