Montgomery County Police shared an overview of reported calls for service from May 12, 2026, which included multiple vehicle thefts, burglaries, robberies, and school-related threats across several police districts in the county.
In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, officers reported an auto theft in the 12200 block of Village Square Ter. after a van was stolen between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda and Chevy Chase, police responded to a residential burglary in the 5300 block of Pooks Hill Rd. in Bethesda after a suspect was found inside a home that had reportedly been entered through a broken sliding glass door.
In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring, officers reported an auto theft near Wayne Ave. and Sligo Creek Pkwy. after a vehicle was stolen from the area.
In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton and Glenmont, officers reported two separate auto thefts, including one in the 2000 block of Georgian Woods Pl. and another in the 14500 block of Homecrest Rd. Police also responded to an accidental weapons discharge in the 14900 block of Cleese Ct. after a handgun reportedly discharged inside an apartment while the owner was clearing it. The round went through furniture and into a wall, though no injuries were reported.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown and Clarksburg, officers reported a residential burglary in the 24800 block of Showbarn Cir. after four pre-teens were found inside a vacant home. Police said property was returned to the owner and the juveniles were released to their parents. Officers also investigated hate/bias threats in the 21700 block of Brink Meadow La. after a pre-teen reportedly received threatening, racially charged text messages on a personal device. Additionally, two motorcycles were stolen overnight from a residence in the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way.
In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village, a staff member at Forest Oak Middle School reported that two students made threatening statements toward the school. Officers also arrested three juvenile suspects, ages 11, 13, and 14, following an armed robbery near Montgomery Village Ave. and Whetstone Dr. involving a BB gun designed to resemble a real handgun. In a separate incident, police said three suspects entered the CVS in the 17600 block of Redland Rd. in Derwood, concealed merchandise, and threatened the store manager with a knife before fleeing with stolen property.
