The Social Security Administration has released data showing the most popular baby names in Maryland for births in 2025, based on a 100% sample of Social Security card application data. A list of the top 50 for boys and top 50 for girls can be seen below.
Liam topped the list for boys with 463 births, followed by Noah (377), Lucas (221), Theodore (214), and Oliver (210). For girls, Ailany ranked No. 1 with 225 births, narrowly ahead of Charlotte (222), Olivia (218), Mia (217), and Sophia (210).
Several classic names continued to dominate across Maryland, including William, James, Henry, Benjamin, and Alexander for boys, while Emma, Isabella, Elizabeth, Eleanor, and Abigail remained among the most popular for girls.
The list also highlights newer trending names gaining popularity across the state, including Thiago, Mateo, Brooks, and Amir for boys, along with Nova, Leilani, Isla, and Genesis for girls. The rankings are based on Social Security card application data and reflect the 100 most frequent given names for births in Maryland during 2025.
