Montgomery County Police released its daily crime summary Tuesday, detailing incidents reported across the county on May 18, including burglaries, vehicle thefts, catalytic converter thefts, and an aggravated assault involving a firearm.
In the 4th District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington, and parts of Silver Spring, police said a property owner found a suspect inside a residence in the 2300 block of McMahon Road at approximately 2:34pm Monday. According to MCPD, as the owner drove away, the suspect allegedly fired at the vehicle before fleeing. The victim suffered cuts from broken glass but was not struck by gunfire.
Police also reported a stolen vehicle recovery and arrest in the 3800 block of Greenly Street in Chevy Chase. Officers said a stolen vehicle was spotted nearby after being taken from in front of a home. The suspects crashed the vehicle, the driver was arrested, and the passenger fled on foot.
In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring and Takoma Park, police said an auto mechanic allegedly stole a customer’s vehicle after taking it in for repairs. The incident was reported around 9:36pm Monday in the 900 block of Gist Avenue. Officers also reported tires and rims stolen from a vehicle in the 18000 block of Georgia Avenue.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, and surrounding Upcounty areas, police reported a catalytic converter theft in the 20400 block of Seneca Meadows Parkway, a theft from auto near Waring Station Road and Churubusco Lane, and an attempted residential burglary in the 12100 block of Skip Jack Drive where one suspect was arrested.
Meanwhile, in the 6th District, which includes Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg, police said a woman discovered a suspect hiding inside her apartment in the 9800 block of Mahogany Drive. The suspect fled and no injuries were reported.
