MCPD shared the following daily crime summary for incidents reported on May 19, 2026:
In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase and surrounding areas, a residential burglary was reported in the 5800 block of Nicholson Lane after a vacant apartment unit showed signs that someone had been inside.
In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring and surrounding communities, a commercial burglary was reported at Unique Thrift Store in the 10100 block of New Hampshire Avenue after a suspect allegedly forced entry into a back office just before closing and stole property.
Also in the 3rd District, an officer reportedly observed a suspect breaking into a vehicle near Fenton Street and Bonifant Street in Silver Spring and placed the suspect under arrest.
Also in the 3rd District, tires and rims were stolen from a vehicle in the 7700 block of Blair Road.
In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Olney and surrounding areas, police said multiple residents reported a text message circulating on social media regarding a rumored threat at Sherwood High School. MCPD said the students suspected of being the source had already been identified and suspended earlier in the day.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg and surrounding upcounty communities, a stolen vehicle was recovered after it was involved in a collision in the 12700 block of Found Stone Road. The driver was transported to a hospital. Also in the 5th District, an airbag theft was reported in the 19100 block of Partridge Wood Drive after a vehicle window was broken.
Also in the 5th District, police reported that a group of 7 to 8 male suspects entered the McDonald’s in the 12900 block of Middlebrook Road and fired Airsoft guns in the lobby and parking lot.
In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, an armed robbery involving what appeared to be a knife was reported near Watkins Mill Road and Travis Avenue after a man was approached from behind and robbed of personal property.
