MCPD released its daily crime summaries for May 25 and May 26, detailing reported incidents across Montgomery County, including vehicle thefts, assaults, burglaries, and firearm-related arrests.
In the 1st District, which covers Rockville and surrounding areas, police reported multiple thefts from vehicles, including airbags stolen from three vehicles in the 1600 block of Piccard Dr. in the King Farm area. Officers also arrested one person during a traffic stop near W Montgomery Ave. and Van Buren St. after recovering a handgun and ammunition. Another airbag theft was reported in the 100 block of Pasture Side Way.
In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Potomac, officers responded to an attempted auto theft investigation in the 10200 block of Grosvenor Pl., where one suspect was arrested. Police also reported multiple catalytic converter thefts in the district. Additional incidents included an aggravated assault in the 17500 block of Bowie Mill Rd., where a woman allegedly strangled her neighbor during a confrontation, and an attempted stabbing involving students at Rock Terrace School in the 11400 block of Marcliff Rd. No injuries were reported in the school incident.
In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring, Takoma Park, and surrounding communities, police reported several serious incidents, including a shooting in the 13800 block of Castle Blvd. where a 17-year-old male was shot in the leg inside an apartment. Officers also investigated two aggravated assaults involving handguns, including one at the Silver Spring Transit Center where a suspect allegedly displayed a handgun at a bus driver before fleeing. Additional incidents in the district included a commercial burglary on Spring St. and multiple auto thefts in Silver Spring area neighborhoods.
In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, and Glenmont, multiple stolen vehicles were reported, including incidents on Malta Ln., Cascade Pl., Gridley Rd., and May St. Officers also arrested two people after recovering a firearm during a traffic stop near May St. and Estelle Rd. in Silver Spring.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, and Damascus, police reported a vehicle theft in the 11300 block of Daventry Way.
In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, and surrounding areas, officers reported a residential burglary in the 300 block of North Summit Ave. where arrests were made. Police also investigated an aggravated assault involving a knife in the 18100 block of Cashell Rd., where a group home worker suffered cuts to the hand, and another incident in the 9800 block of Washingtonian Blvd. where a juvenile allegedly threatened a movie theater employee with a switchblade. A separate residential burglary was also reported in the 7000 block of Vega Ct.
