The Montgomery County Police Department has released its daily crime summaries covering reported incidents from Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 7.
In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, Potomac and surrounding areas, police reported an auto theft on Maple Avenue in Rockville in which a stolen vehicle was later recovered nearby and two additional vehicles were vandalized. Tires and rims were stolen from two vehicles on Frederick Avenue, and two suspects were arrested after being found inside a vacant apartment on Elmcroft Court. Police also reported an aggravated assault at Richard Montgomery High School where two suspects entered a classroom, pepper sprayed a student and punched her. The student was treated by the school nurse. Over the weekend, officers also arrested three suspects in two separate commercial burglaries at vacant buildings on Research Boulevard.
In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Kensington, a motorcycle was stolen and later recovered with damage on East West Highway. Police also reported two separate school-related burglaries on Saturday evening. In one incident on Radnor Road, three juveniles allegedly entered a school through a rear window and discharged a fire extinguisher, causing damage. In a separate incident at Rollingwood School on Woodbine Street, a rear window of an unused school building was found broken.
In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring and surrounding communities, officers reported four vehicle theft-related incidents. Vehicles were stolen from Forest Hill Drive, Southampton Drive, January Drive and Langley Drive. An airbag was also reported stolen from a vehicle on Meadowhill Road. A delivery vehicle stolen from Ellsworth Drive was later recovered in Washington, D.C. Police also arrested a driver following reports of reckless driving on Columbia Pike. Officers pursued the vehicle to the D.C. line before the driver abandoned it and was later apprehended after returning to the area on foot.
In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill and Glenmont, police reported multiple vehicle thefts on Bel Pre Road, Evanston Street, Connecticut Avenue and Peppertree Lane. Officers also arrested a suspect accused of breaking into a home on Old Baltimore Road. In another incident, a man walking his dog on Weller Road reported that a suspect pointed a handgun at him and threatened to shoot him before driving away. A stolen vehicle tracked to Upper Marlboro was later recovered by Prince George’s County Police.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown and Clarksburg, police reported two vehicles belonging to the same victim were broken into on Gardenside Place, with personal property stolen from both. Officers also investigated graffiti discovered on the rear of a Noodles & Company location on Frederick Road.
In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, a tire was stolen from a vehicle left on a jack stand near Centerway Road and Kinglet Place. Police arrested an individual after a traffic stop on Montgomery Village Avenue revealed a loaded handgun. Officers also investigated an armed robbery at the Sheetz on Progress Way, where a suspect allegedly arranged an online marketplace meeting before pulling a handgun and stealing the victim’s bag. The suspect was later identified. On Sunday, police reported an aggravated assault on Russell Avenue in which a driver allegedly swung a knife at another man during a parking lot dispute while repeatedly using a racial slur. No injuries were reported.
MCPD noted that the daily crime summaries do not reflect all calls for service during the referenced dates and include only selected incidents reported to police.
