Pizza Hut Has Permanently Closed

Pizza Hut has permanently closed its location at 842-B Rockville Pike in Rockville, a little more than three years after opening.

The restaurant is now listed as permanently closed on Google and a representative from a newly location confirmed the closure to The MoCoShow on Friday morning. The closure marks the end of a relatively short run for the store, which opened in March 2023. At the time, the location opened between Maki and Pho Nom Nom in a space that had previously been occupied by GEICO.

As we reported when it opened, the Rockville Pike restaurant was one of several newer Pizza Hut locations the company had introduced in the region as it continued to focus on carryout and delivery-oriented stores. Recently, the Pizza Hut at 6293 Oxon Hill Road in Oxon Hill (Prince George’s County) transitioned into one of the chain’s growing number of “retro” Pizza Hut locations. It’s the only Maryland store to do so.

Customers looking for Pizza Hut in the area still have another nearby option. The chain continues to operate a location at 5058 Nicholson Lane in Rockville, approximately three miles from the now-closed Rockville Pike restaurant.

No information has been announced regarding what business may eventually take over the vacant space.
