Two adults were displaced after an overnight fire damaged an end-unit townhouse in the Longmeade Crossing community of Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer.
Around 1am on Sunday, June 14, firefighters responded to Habersham Circle for a reported fire at a two-story end-of-row townhouse. Crews arrived to find fire showing from the rear of the home and quickly extinguished an exterior fire.
Officials said smoke alarms alerted the residents at about the same time neighbors spotted flames coming from the rear deck. All occupants and nearby neighbors were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
The fire originated on the exterior deck. The cause remains under investigation and has been classified as undetermined. Damage is estimated at approximately $300,000. Two adults were displaced as a result of the fire.
