Montgomery County Police shared the following overview of reported incidents from June 17, 2026. The summary does not reflect all calls for service on that date.
In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda and Chevy Chase, officers investigated two vehicle thefts. A vehicle was stolen from the 10400 block of Motor City Drive between 9pm on June 16 and 7am on June 17. Police also reported a stolen vehicle in the 9600 block of Linden Avenue. The vehicle had been taken from in front of a home and was later recovered nearby.
In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring and Takoma Park, officers responded to a hate/bias incident and multiple vehicle thefts. At approximately 1:48pm, a suspect removed a Pride flag from a home’s porch in the 9300 block of Worth Avenue. The suspect was located nearby and cited. Police also reported vehicles stolen from the 500 block of Southampton Drive, the 11500 block of February Circle, the 10700 block of Blossom Lane, and the 11200 block of Lockwood Drive.
In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, and Kensington, officers investigated an auto theft and an assault-related incident at a school. A vehicle was stolen from the 14700 block of Janice Drive between 10pm on June 16 and 6:30am on June 17. At approximately 11:34am, a former employee entered Glen Haven Elementary School in the 10900 block of Inwood Avenue and refused to leave. The school was placed on a brief precautionary lockdown. According to police, a staff member was struck during the incident and one person was arrested.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, and Damascus, officers investigated a hate/bias vandalism incident. At approximately 1:54pm, hateful graffiti was discovered in a restroom at Clarksburg High School in the 22500 block of Wims Road.
