MCPD Weekend Crime Summary: Robbery, Burglaries And Vehicle Thefts Reported Across County

Montgomery County Police shared an overview of reported calls for service over the weekend, highlighting incidents reported between Friday, June 19 and Sunday, June 21.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, Potomac and surrounding areas, officers arrested two suspects after they were found removing copper wire and tools from a vacant building on Montrose Road. Police also reported an aggravated assault involving a BB gun on Seven Locks Road, where a juvenile allegedly pointed a BB gun resembling a real handgun at another juvenile during a dispute. On Saturday, a group reportedly assaulted multiple victims and robbed one person on Fisher Avenue before fleeing. In a separate incident on Hungerford Drive, a suspect allegedly distracted a victim with a hug before stealing jewelry she was wearing.

In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda and Chevy Chase, suspects forced entry into a business on Old Georgetown Road and stole property before fleeing in a vehicle.

In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring and Takoma Park, police reported a residential burglary at a hotel on Prosperity Drive after a suspect falsely claimed to be hotel security and entered a guest’s room before being forced out. Officers also arrested a man found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle at New Hampshire Avenue and Powder Mill Road who was allegedly in possession of a handgun while intoxicated. A hate-bias vandalism incident was reported on Inventa Place after anti-Semitic graffiti was written on a wall mural. Vehicle thefts were reported on Teagarden Circle, January Drive and Castle Boulevard, while a motor scooter was stolen from East Falkland Lane.

In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Glenmont and surrounding communities, a vehicle was stolen from Clearfield Road. Airbags were also stolen from multiple vehicles on Glenallan Avenue and Whispering Pines Drive. Another stolen vehicle was later recovered near Atherton Drive.

In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg and Damascus, police reported a vehicle theft in the Steeple Road and Steeple Court area.

In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, a vehicle was stolen from a driveway on Wayridge Drive. Officers also investigated a weapons discharge on Miller Falls Road after several shots were heard and shell casings were recovered. Two people were seen running from a nearby field.
