Man Arrested After Alleged Sexual Assault And Indecent Exposure Outside 7-Eleven

Chief Antonio DeVaul announced the arrest of a 34-year-old man following an alleged indecent exposure and assault outside a 7-Eleven in Takoma Park late Thursday night.

According to the Takoma Park Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:44pm on Thursday, June 25, to the 1300 block of University Boulevard for a report of an indecent exposure and assault.

Police say the victim and her husband were leaving the 7-Eleven when an unidentified man approached the woman from behind and began making sexually explicit comments. The suspect allegedly attempted to touch the victim inappropriately while continuing to make sexually explicit statements.

Investigators say the suspect then moved in front of the victim, reached toward her genital area, pulled down his pants, exposed himself, and grabbed the victim by the arm.

When the victim’s husband intervened, the suspect allegedly pointed an unknown object at him while continuing to make sexually explicit statements toward the victim. The victim and her husband were able to escape to their vehicle while the suspect fled on foot toward the Walgreens shopping area.

Responding officers searched the area and located a man matching the description provided by the victims. The suspect, identified as Gregory Carbott, 34, of no fixed address, was taken into custody without incident.

Carbott was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with indecent exposure and second-degree assault. A mugshot was not provided.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100 and reference case #260028142.
