Carjacking, Multiple Vehicle Thefts Among Reported Incidents in July 3-5 Weekend Crime Report

The Montgomery County Department of Police has released an overview of reported calls for service over the weekend from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5, 2026.

In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, Potomac, North Bethesda and surrounding areas, a motorcycle was stolen from a parking lot in the 1100 block of Higgins Place. Two people were arrested after being seen leaving a vacant apartment in the 600 block of Blandford Street, where a stolen handgun was recovered nearby. A woman was the victim of a strong-arm carjacking after someone forced their way into her parked vehicle in the 700 block of Mapleton Road, assaulted her and stole the vehicle, which was later recovered unoccupied. Officers also investigated a residential burglary in the unit block of Upper Rock Circle after someone entered an apartment while the resident was away and searched through closets and cabinets.

In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring, Burtonsville, Fairland, White Oak and Briggs Chaney, a motorcycle was stolen from a parking lot in the 3400 block of Gateshead Manor Way.

In the 4th District, which covers Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Glenmont, Kemp Mill and Olney, officers investigated a weapons discharge after a stray bullet entered a home in the unit block of London Bridge Court and was found in an upstairs bedroom. No one was injured, and police believe the round came from holiday celebrations.

In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, Boyds and Poolesville, three vehicle thefts were reported in the 13400 block of Ansel Terrace, the 22000 block of Longspur Alley and the 19600 block of Twinflower Circle. Officers also responded to an attempted residential burglary in the 22100 block of Havenworth Lane after someone tried to force open a home’s garage door but was unable to get inside.

In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, North Potomac and Darnestown, two vehicles were stolen from the 200 block of Cedar Avenue and the 300 block of West Deer Park Road. Another vehicle was stolen after a window was broken in the 18300 block of Swan Stream Drive before officers recovered it and arrested two people. Officers also investigated an aggravated assault in the 500 block of South Frederick Avenue after a man approached someone with a machete, grabbed the victim’s phone, threw it and fled.
