Montgomery County Police have released an overview of reported calls for service from Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12. Incidents included multiple aggravated assaults, weapons offenses, commercial and attempted residential burglaries, several vehicle thefts, catalytic converter thefts, two weapons discharge investigations, an officer-involved shooting, and the recovery of firearms and suspected drugs.
In the 1st District, which covers Rockville, North Bethesda, and parts of Potomac, officers investigated a weapons discharge after two people fired multiple rounds during a large parking lot party on Taft Street. No injuries were reported. Police also responded to two auto thefts, including a stolen motorcycle, and arrested a man who allegedly pointed a handgun at an uninvolved driver during a dispute in Bethesda.
In the 2nd District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Kensington, officers made an arrest after a man allegedly pointed a handgun at an uninvolved driver during a dispute at Battery Lane and Wisconsin Avenue.
In the 3rd District, which covers Silver Spring, Takoma Park, White Oak, and Burtonsville, officers responded to an attempted residential burglary after a woman reported a man followed her from a store to her home and tried to enter through a window before fleeing when confronted. Officers also arrested a man after finding a handgun in his vehicle outside a business, investigated a stabbing inside a restaurant bathroom on Georgia Avenue that left the victim with non-life-threatening injuries, and responded to a commercial burglary involving three neighboring businesses on Cherry Hill Road. Additional incidents included multiple vehicle thefts, two catalytic converter thefts, an arrest after a person was seen checking vehicle door handles in a parking garage, and a weapons discharge in an apartment parking lot on Castle Boulevard where no injuries were reported.
In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus, Darnestown, and Poolesville, officers arrested a man who was allegedly checking vehicle door handles and stealing change from a vehicle in Potomac and investigated an overnight vehicle theft in North Potomac.
In the 6th District, which covers Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, North Potomac, and parts of Rockville, officers investigated several significant incidents, including a knife-point assault inside a convenience store on North Frederick Avenue, the stabbing on Lost Knife Road that resulted in an arrest, and the officer-involved shooting later that evening in the same area, which is now under investigation by the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. Officers also recovered multiple firearms and a large quantity of suspected drugs from a wooded area near Walkers Choice Road, recovered a previously stolen vehicle and arrested five juveniles inside, and investigated several additional vehicle thefts, including the theft of two dirt bikes from a residential property.
