The reigning Olympic champion U.S. Women’s National Team will return to Washington, D.C. this fall for a marquee international matchup, taking on defending FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and current world No. 1 Spain at Audi Field on Friday, October 10.
Kickoff is set for 2:30pm, with the match airing on TBS and HBO Max in English and on Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock in Spanish. The teams will also meet again on October 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The October 10 match will also feature a special pregame retirement celebration honoring former USWNT star Crystal Dunn, who was named NWSL MVP while playing for the Washington Spirit in 2015. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative Crystal Dunn bobblehead.
“DC has become a hotbed for the world’s best soccer, and hosting the USWNT against Spain on Oct. 10 is further proof of that,” said Washington Spirit CEO Kim Stone. “Add to it that we will also host the NWSL Championship this year, and it’s clear our city has earned its place on the biggest stages in the game.”
Several current Washington Spirit players have earned USWNT call-ups over the past year, including Trinity Rodman, Tara Rudd, Kate Wiesner, and Hal Hershfelt. Rodman was most recently called up for the team’s June matches against Brazil.
“Two more fantastic matches,” said USWNT head coach Emma Hayes. “We’ve desperately wanted to get Spain on our schedule, but the difficulties of scheduling the top teams during the women’s international calendar are well known, so to be able to get these two games on the East Coast will be the perfect tests before we head into World Cup qualifying at the end of the year.”
The October match will be the USWNT’s fourth appearance at Audi Field. The team last played there on July 2, 2025, defeating Canada 3-0. Overall, the United States has played 13 matches in Washington, D.C., with the first 10 taking place at the former RFK Stadium.
The two nations have met four times, with the United States winning the first three matchups before Spain earned its first victory in 2022. Spain went on to capture the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and currently sits atop the FIFA women’s world rankings.
