Montgomery County police responded to several notable crimes across the county on July 15, including multiple catalytic converter thefts, vehicle-related thefts, burglaries, assaults, a robbery, a hate/bias incident, and an arrest in a commercial burglary case.
In the 1st District, which covers Bethesda, Chevy Chase and surrounding communities, officers investigated the theft of a vehicle from a parking garage in the unit block of Maryland Avenue. In the 2nd District, which serves Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington and nearby areas, officers responded to the theft of tires from a vehicle on Pooks Hill Road. Detectives also investigated six catalytic converter thefts reported in the same general area, with incidents on Malden Drive, Keokuk Street, Yorktown Road, Little Falls Drive, Dover Court and Glen Cove Parkway.
In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, Wheaton and Burtonsville, officers investigated the theft of tires and rims from a vehicle on Piney Branch Road, a residential burglary on Fenton Street where an apartment door was kicked in, and the theft of a catalytic converter on Harmon Road. Police also responded to an aggravated assault on Quebec Terrace after a man throwing trash at people and vehicles was assaulted, and a strong-arm robbery on Lockwood Drive where a suspect assaulted a victim after taking money during a payment and stole personal property.
In the 4th District, which covers Aspen Hill, Colesville and Olney, officers investigated two tire thefts from vehicles on the 1100 block of University Boulevard West. Police also responded to an aggravated assault involving a knife at Georgia Avenue and Bel Pre Road after a driver allegedly threatened another motorist with a knife before the two became involved in a physical altercation.
In the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus and Montgomery Village, officers investigated a hate/bias incident after hateful graffiti was discovered on a light pole near Snowden Farm Parkway and Horseshoe Bend Circle. Officers also arrested a woman after she was found inside a gym after hours with property belonging to the business on Seneca Meadows Parkway.
