Four Vehicles Stolen, Two Attempted Burglaries Reported Aug. 6 Crime Summary

MCPD has released an overview of reported calls for service from Thursday, August 6, 2026. The summary does not reflect all calls for service on the referenced date.

In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, North Bethesda and parts of Rockville, officers responded to the 11800 block of Danville Dr. at approximately 10:40am for a report of a man with a gun. Police determined the report was false and the call was a swatting incident.

In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, Wheaton, White Oak, Burtonsville and surrounding areas, a tow truck was reported stolen from the area of April Ln. and Stewart Ln. sometime between 6pm Wednesday and 1pm Thursday. A separate auto theft was reported in the 3300 block of Teagarden Cl., where a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot sometime between 2:35am and 12:30pm Thursday. Police also reported an attempted residential burglary in the 7900 block of Eastern Ave. at approximately 6:30am, when an unknown suspect attempted to enter an apartment before leaving the scene.

In the 5th District, which covers Germantown, Clarksburg, Damascus and surrounding areas, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 22500 block of Cabin Branch Ave. sometime between 11pm Wednesday and 5am Thursday.

In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1st block of Prism Pl. sometime between 2pm Sunday, August 2 and 8am Thursday. Police also reported an attempted residential burglary in the 15700 block of Mahogany Cir. sometime between 4:30pm Monday, August 3 and 1:45pm Thursday. An unknown suspect attempted to break into an apartment before leaving the scene.
