Montgomery County Police shared an overview of reported calls for service from the weekend of August 7 through August 9, including auto thefts, burglaries, assaults, thefts from vehicles, a weapons offense, and other incidents across the county.
In the 1st District, which includes Rockville, Potomac and parts of North Bethesda, police reported an auto theft in the 400 block of Dover Rd on Friday. On Saturday, a vehicle was stolen from the 12400 block of Park Potomac Ave. On Sunday, a known suspect allegedly posted threats on social media in the 8700 block of Postoak Rd and was arrested. Someone also broke a window and entered a school in the 300 block of Martins Ln at approximately 3:35am. Nothing was reported stolen.
In the 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington and parts of North Bethesda, police reported an attempted residential burglary in the 5800 block of Inman Park Cir between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. On Saturday, a vehicle was stolen near Citadel Ave and McGrath Blvd. Police also reported an attempted residential burglary in the 8500 block of Pelham Rd, where a known suspect was arrested, and an aggravated assault in the 7800 block of Fox Gate Ct involving an argument between known adults in which victims were reportedly kicked and grabbed.
In the 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, White Oak, Burtonsville and surrounding areas, police reported several incidents on Friday, including airbags stolen from multiple vehicles on Royal Rd, Oak Leaf Dr, Stateside Dr and Quebec Ter. Vehicles were also reported stolen from Featherwood Dr, Manchester Rd and Georgia Ave. In the 10000 block of Kinross Ave, suspects allegedly entered a residence undergoing renovation and were arrested. A business in the 15500 block of Old Columbia Pike was also broken into overnight and property was stolen.
Additional 3rd District incidents were reported Saturday. A residence in the 700 block of Richmond Ave was broken into, with vehicle keys taken and a vehicle stolen. Near Wayne Ave and Ramsey Ave, a suspect allegedly stole a cooler full of sodas and brandished a knife when confronted. Auto thefts were also reported in the 15300 block of Lions Den Rd, while an attempted residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of Ray Dr.
In the 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Glenmont, Aspen Hill, Olney and parts of Silver Spring, police reported an attempted auto theft in the 2200 block of Georgian Woods Pl on Friday. On Saturday, catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on Tivoli Lake Blvd, Terrapin Rd and Wigan Dr. An attempted auto theft was also reported in the 2200 block of Georgian Way, while a residence in the 14200 block of Pear Tree Ln was burglarized.
On Sunday, 4th District officers responded to an attempted residential burglary in the 14500 block of Gilpin Rd. Police also reported an aggravated assault and no-contact shooting near Elkin St and University Blvd between approximately 3:10am and 3:15am. According to MCPD, a suspect assaulted a victim and then fired a handgun. No injuries were reported. Catalytic converters were also stolen from multiple vehicles on Bucknell Dr, Gridley Ln and Windham Ln.
In the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg and Boyds, a vehicle window was broken and property was taken in the 12900 block of Clarksburg Square Rd between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. On Saturday, police reported an assault/hate-bias incident in the 13500 block of Clopper Rd in which an intoxicated suspect allegedly yelled homophobic slurs and punched a victim. On Sunday, a vehicle was broken into and property was taken in the 23700 block of Bennett Chase Dr, and another vehicle was stolen.
In the 6th District, which includes Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village and surrounding areas, police reported an aggravated assault involving a firearm in the 9800 block of Mahogany Dr on Friday. According to police, known juveniles got into a fight and one juvenile pointed a handgun at the victims. On Saturday, a handgun was recovered during a traffic stop near Montgomery Village Ave and N Frederick Ave, and the suspect was arrested. Four auto thefts were also reported in the district, along with an attempted strong-arm robbery in the 18600 block of Nathans Pl and an aggravated assault/theft in the 500 block of W Diamond Ave.
