Baltimore ranks as the second-worst real estate market in the country, according to a new report from personal-finance company WalletHub. Washington D.C. didn’t fare much better, coming in ranked 271st overall.
WalletHub compared 300 U.S. cities across 17 metrics, including median home-price appreciation, housing affordability and job growth. Baltimore ranked 299th overall, ahead of only New Orleans. The city also ranked 252nd in the study’s Affordability and Economic Environment category. DC was 248th in the Affordability and Economic Environment category.
Frisco, Texas, was named the nation’s best real estate market, followed by McKinney, Texas; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Durham, North Carolina; and Denton, Texas. The bottom 10 markets were:

- Palmdale, California
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Miami Beach, Florida
- St. Louis, Missouri
- Jackson, Mississippi
- Baton Rouge, Louisiana
- Shreveport, Louisiana
- Baltimore, Maryland
- New Orleans, Louisiana
