Chef and restaurateur Brad Feickert is preparing to open MilePost 7 Pub at 8000 Flower Ave in Takoma Park, taking over the former Mansa Kunda space. The neighborhood pub will offer Americana fare, a daily $5 happy-hour menu, weekend brunch, and an ice cream and candy shop.
Feickert is the chef behind Soko Butcher and Koma in Takoma Park, Harvey’s by Soko at Union Market, and Soko Cheesesteaks at Capital One Arena. His latest project will feature full dinner service, sports on television, and regular live performances. An opening date has not yet been announced.
“I’ve always wanted to open the kind of pub you find in a small town – a place with really good food and drinks, sports on the TVs, good music, and neighbors catching up over a few beers after work,” Feickert said.
The menu will take a broad approach to Americana cuisine rather than focusing on a single region or style. A signature burger will be a centerpiece of the opening menu, with additional menu details to be announced. The ice cream and candy shop will be located toward the back of the space.
The MilePost 7 name references Takoma Park’s railroad history and the pub’s location between railroad mileposts 6 and 8. The city developed in the 1880s as an early railroad suburb, offering residents access to Washington, D.C.
Feickert and his team had originally planned to open Phia, a fine-dining Appalachian concept, during this period. With construction taking longer than anticipated, they shifted their immediate focus to MilePost 7 while work on Phia continues.
“Takoma Park has supported us in such a meaningful way, and we’re pumped to bring something new to this side of the community,” Feickert said. “This is a place we hope people will make their own – whether that means a quick drink after work, dinner with friends, watching the game or brunch with the family.”
Opening details, menus, hours, and live music programming will be announced ahead of the pub’s debut.
