Armed Robbery, Gunfire, Auto Thefts in September 15 Crime Summary

The Montgomery County Department of Police shared an overview of reported calls for service from September 15, 2026, including robberies, auto thefts, thefts from vehicles, an aggravated assault and a weapons offense. MCPD notes that the summary does not reflect all calls for service on the referenced date.

The 1st District, which includes Rockville, Potomac and parts of North Bethesda, reported an auto theft in the 500 block of Southlawn Ave. A vehicle was taken Monday between 9:16pm and 9:30pm.

The 2nd District, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington and parts of Potomac and North Bethesda, reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the 7300 block of Lynnhurst St. The theft occurred sometime between August 24 and September 14. Police also reported an aggravated assault near Josiah Henson Pkwy and Towne Rd, where a suspect allegedly pointed a gun at another driver during a road rage incident Tuesday morning.

The 3rd District, which includes Silver Spring, White Oak, Burtonsville and surrounding areas, reported two auto thefts, with vehicles taken from the 8300 block of Piney Branch Rd and 100 block of Ames Rd. Three airbags were also reported stolen from vehicles in the 11400 and 11500 blocks of Lockwood Dr and the 9700 block of Mt Pisgah Rd.

MCPD also reported several more serious incidents in the 3rd District. A suspect allegedly fired a round into a vehicle tire in a parking lot in the 8500 block of 16th St before leaving the area. A victim was assaulted and had property taken in the 8800 block of Colesville Rd. Later Tuesday evening, a victim was robbed at gunpoint in the 9400 block of New Hampshire Ave, with shots fired as the victim ran from the area. No injuries were reported. Police also reported a residential burglary in the 9700 block of Woodland Dr, where a suspect was found inside a home before leaving the area.

The 4th District, which includes Wheaton, Glenmont, Aspen Hill and Olney, reported two auto thefts. Vehicles were taken from the 2300 block of Glenallan Ave and the 5200 block of Russett Rd.
