Three teenagers are in custody following an armed robbery inside Northwest High School in Germantown on Thursday, September 17.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, officers responded to the school at approximately 12:35 p.m. after a 15-year-old student reported being robbed at gunpoint inside a school bathroom. Police said another 15-year-old Northwest student pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money before leaving with the cash.
Officers later located four teenagers near Great Seneca Highway and Wisteria Drive, including the 15-year-old suspect. He was taken into custody but did not have a firearm. Police said one of the other teens walked into a wooded area as officers approached before returning to the group.
A K9 search of the wooded area led officers to a loaded P80 handgun with an extended magazine, which detectives determined was the weapon used in the robbery. Police said a 17-year-old was identified as the teen who entered the wooded area and determined that 18-year-old Tayvion Williams had also possessed the gun. A fourth teenager was interviewed and released without charges.
The 15-year-old was charged as a juvenile with armed robbery, first-degree assault and multiple firearm offenses and was remanded to the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center. The 17-year-old was charged as an adult with handgun and firearm offenses. Williams was also charged as an adult with firearm offenses. Both were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit to await bond hearings.
