Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old Frederick man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a Poolesville man early Sunday morning.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, Travis Edward Lowe was arrested Monday, September 21, and charged with failure to return and remain at a collision involving death and related traffic charges.
At approximately 1:51 a.m. Sunday, September 20, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the area of Fisher Avenue and Milford Mill Road for a reported pedestrian collision. Police said 27-year-old Dakota Joseph Grimsby, of Poolesville, was struck near 19630 Fisher Avenue. The driver allegedly left the scene and continued westbound on Fisher Avenue toward Elgin Road.
Grimsby was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
Detectives recovered vehicle debris that indicated the striking vehicle may have been a 2020-2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 or 3500 pickup truck. After detectives distributed flyers throughout Poolesville, police said a tip from a resident helped identify Lowe as a suspect.
Detectives later located a white Chevrolet Silverado with front-end damage at a business in Frederick and identified Lowe as the driver connected to the collision, according to police.
Lowe was arrested in Frederick County and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is awaiting a bond hearing. The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the collision.
